Baby Bottle Tooth DecayEvery year, many children besides infants experience widespread tooth decay. Astonishingly, milk besides other liquids off the feeding bottles is the principal offenders for this menace. Baby’s mouth like any adult’s mouth carries the entire bacteria fed on sugar contained in the fluids and foods consumed. Such bacteria yield acid as a bye product which invades the tooth enamel resulting in forming hollow spaces. Tooth decay is understood to be caused by the baby with feeding bottle
in the mouth while going to bed when the tooth enamel is progressively
damaged by excessive exposure to the sugared fluids in the bottle, termed
as Early Childhood Carries (ECC).Very often, the child’s upper front jaw
is damaged, though other teeth too are prone to get suffered. Children
consuming liquids off sugary cups or eat disproportionate amount of sweetened
foods too are said to comprise tooth decay while developing primitive
hollow spaces. As per U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), 17% of children in the age group of 2-4 years have been suffering
from tooth decay. Baby teeth provide certain essential features by helping children to gnaw food thereby filling a space in the jaw until adult teeth emerge. If these teeth vanish too early, the adjacent teeth may start shifting into the space. This can avoid permanent teeth from becoming straight in due course or from coming up entirely (impingement). Lack of strength in the teeth, mouth microorganisms besides a blend of exposure to sugar triggers tooth decay. Continued sucking of bottle containing sweetened liquid except water makes children to get exposed to teeth damage. Children born have tendency to lactate rendering them naturally prone to bottle sucking habits relatively over a long stretch of time. Decay once developed in one or several teeth have tendency to spread fast. Children with primitive tooth decay are prone to experience pain with infection which may result in lasting problems. Besides, children may develop connected lasting disorders like speech obstructions, twisted or clustered teeth besides psychological disorders. Babies need robust and strong teeth to enable gnaw food besides being able to speak and have pleasant smiling face. Baby teeth are thus important in providing space in the jaw for acquiring adult teeth. If any baby tooth vanishes prematurely, the teeth next can shift into the emptied space leaving hardly any space for adult teeth to come in. Thus the teeth look crowded or twisted. It is hard to treat baby bottle tooth decay and hence it is imperative for parents/caregivers to shield their children from encountering this condition at the initial stage. |
